Springboard4Families Support Groups
If you are a parent/carer of a child or young person with additional needs or disabilities and would like to meet up with others or keep in touch, then please come along to one of our friendly, local parent support groups:
Who? Parents/carers of a child or young person who has additional needs or disabilities and would like to meet others for a chat, mutual support, sharing information, keeping in the loop and friendship. There is no specific age range, you or your child/young person can be any age!
Why? Many parents/carers who leave Springboard when their child is 5, find that their networks of support can melt away. Several Springboard Parent Trustees whose children are now at school wanted to start an informal group to help everyone keep in touch and call it ‘Springboard 4 Families’. Current Springboard families are also welcome of course and you don’t need to have attended Springboard to come along.
What? The support groups are yours, so you can decide what you want from them. Family Support Workers from Springboard will attend and meet with you, but it is for parents/carers and the focus will be whatever you want it to be.
Under 5’s? Are very welcome and there will be toys available, but please note that they are in your care at all times.
Can I just turn up? At either group or both? YES, please do!
Cost? A small charge for teas/coffees/biscuits, that’s all. The venues have been donated free of charge.
See you there!
Please note that meetings have been suspended for the time being due to the COVID-19 restrictions but will be re-started as soon as they are permitted.
