Staff training

Springboard puts a high priority on good quality training for all its staff.

All staff receive :

• Induction - A comprehensive introduction to the organisation and the role and responsibilities of the job.
• 5 In-service days a year, one of which includes our volunteers - We cover a range of issues to support the work we do in the playroom and with families.
• Regular team meetings sometimes including a training element
• Free access for playroom staff to essential training e.g. Portage, Makaton Foundation, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding
• 7 hours/ year further training on relevant topics
• Help with fees for relevant qualifications
• Volunteers receive induction training, free Makaton training and ongoing training and support.
• Link to North Somerset Council's CPD Online traning directory.

Parent Workshops

As part of our Family Support Service our Training officer Grace Hewson, along with the play staff, provide
Parent Workshops on such topics as:

• Early Communication
• Sleeping, Eating, Toileting
• Moving on to School
• Lets Play Together
• Communicating Through Symbols
• Parent Workshop leaflet

Training for other professionals/organisations

Makaton - A programme using signs and symbols to help develop communication skills.

We have a team of Regional Makaton tutors who provide a rolling programme of Makaton courses.

We are also able to offer bespoke courses. 

• ASD Workshop - A 5-evening course about the underlying difficulties of autism and related difficulties, with discussion on the range of strategies which can be used to help children progress in the early years setting.
