Springboard's commitment to your child and partnership with parents:
- each child has a confidential personal file which contains copies of all reports and letters produced and received. Parents have full access to your child's file at any time.
- your child’s daily progress is recorded in their Learning Diary which you are welcome to see at any time.
- our facilities are available for use by professionals when working with your child. Private meetings can also be arranged if required.
- producing detailed reports on your child when appropriate, particularly in contribution towards a statutory assessment. Due regard is paid to the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2001 when producing reports. Each parent receives a copy of the report and information on the Code of Practice and copies of any report produced by Springboard staff.
- as part of our curriculum we work towards the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for all children as advised by the DfES/Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and which is in use in all early years settings.
- we are committed to confidentiality. No external agency will be contacted by us without your parental permission except in cases of safeguarding/child protection where the agreed local procdures will be carried out.
- Books, leaflets and a range of resources about how to help children with a wide range of additional needs are available. We have established links with other local and national charities and all local services. We also have an ICT facility at Clevedon enabling parents to have access to the internet and a wide range of resources and information.
- full details of our provision is available in our policies, designed to offer the best possible experience for the children and families and workers at Springboard. They are reviewed on a regular basis and all parents receive a copy of them.
- a commitment to equal opportunities, diversity, inclusion and disability equality in order to provide a comprehensive service to our many members and in our working practices with other agencies and support groups.
- an annual questionnaire where we ask for your views and which helps in collating general statistical and non confidential information for use by other services such as North Somerset Council Children & Young People’s Services.
- support for parents and families, from our Parents Workshops to informal coffee time chats. Staff members are also available to give further support and information.
- language and communication sessions where activities are introduced to promote better communication and socialisation.
- use of Makaton key word signing and symbols system in all our activities to enhance and encourage speech and language development.
- three specialist co-ordinators in music, sensory and information & communication technology are in place to give children more input and to support staff and volunteers in activities in these areas.
- training sessions run by our staff to include parents and volunteers and often involving other professionals. These sessions can be a valuable source of understanding as well as information sharing. We also have access to courses run locally through the Childcare Education and Play Partnership.
